Fabio Joly
Fábio Duarte Joly received his PhD in History from the University of São Paulo, in Brazil, in 2006. From 2006 to 2010 he was associate professor of Ancient History in the Federal University of the Bahian Recôncavo. Since 2011 he teaches, as full professor, Ancient History in the Federal University of Ouro Preto. From 2013 to 2021 he has had scholarships from CNPq, the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development. He is member of the Brazilian research group Laboratory of Studies on the Roman Empire (LEIR), and he has published on Roman history and literature, including Julio-Claudian period, Tacitus, and Roman slavery. He is the author of three monographs, and has co-edited three collective volumes.
