
Marios Anastasiadis
Marios Anastasiadis is Faculty Fellow in Greek History at NYU and Fellow of the Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies (2025/26). He works on Greek history, with special interests in slavery, economic history, epigraphy, and ancient science. Marios received his PhD in Classics at the University of Edinburgh in 2024 and has published articles on slave medical treatment in the Greek world, virginity and prostitution in the Great Law Code of Gortyn (with David Lewis), and slaves’ independent control of the Greek countryside (with Jason Porter). He is working on a monograph on the life and labour of slaves in Archaic and Classical Greece, as well as article-long projects on ancient technology, ancient curse tablets, and slavery and material culture. For the SLaVEgents project, Marios will be contributing entries arising from the corpus of the Attic curse tablets.
