Τheatrical archive of Nikolaos Laskaris

The research program Sources of Modern Greek Theatre History of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies has from now on in its possession the theatrical archive of Nikolaos Laskaris (1868-1945). Laskaris is one of the most significant 19th -20th century playwrights and the first historian of Modern Greek Theatre. The archive has been donated to the Institute by his granddaughter Ioli Antonopoulou.

Hadjipantazis, Professor Emeritus of the University of Crete.

International Colloquium on Balkan & Eastern Mediterranean Cities in the beginning of the 20th century

The research team for the History of the City is organizing an international colloquium with subject: "Rival Pursuits, Common Experiences: Social Transformation and Mass Mobilization in the Balkan & Eastern Mediterranean Cities (1900‐1923)". The colloquium will be taking place 22-24 October 2009 and will be hosted at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies.

Προοπτικές της έρευνας και νέες ερμηνευτικές προσεγγίσεις" είναι το θέμα του διεθνούς συμποσίου που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Ρέθυμνο από τις 18-20 Οκτωβρίου με τη συμμετοχή 20 ελλήνων και ξένων ιστορικών. Η μελέτη των πόλεων είναι ένα από τα σημαντικότερα θέματα που απασχολούν τις νεότερες προσεγγίσεις της ιστορίας του Βυζαντίου σήμερα.
