  • First Scientific Meeting, Rethymno 2 November 1999. 
    It was organised by the project “The city in modern times”, aiming at disseminating the results of the research so far. Papers were delivered by 5 scholars from Liverpool, Athens and Rethymno
     
  • International Conference “Rival Pursuits, Common Experiences: Social Transformation and Mass Mobilization in the Balkan and Eastern Mediterranean Cities (1900-1923)”, Rethymno 22- 24 October 2009, Institute for Mediterranean Studies-FORTH
    Scholars from the most countries of the broader area participated in this significant conference. In their papers was based the collective volume Social Transformation and Mass Mobilization in the Balkan and Eastern Mediterranean Cities
     
  • The Economic and Social Development of the Port–Cities of the Western Black Sea Coast, Late 18th – Beginning of the 20th century, conference organised in Constanța and in Varna in 27 May -1 June 2014 by Andreas Lyberatos and C. Ardeleanu.
    This conference was organised in the framework of the international research project “The Black Sea and its port- cities from the 18th to the 20th century. Development, convergence and linkages with the global economy” (Thales 2012-15, coordinated by the professor Gelina Harlaftis). The papers of the conference became the basis for the publishment of the collective volume Port Cities of the Western Black Sea Coast
