The project aims at translating the Ottoman judicial registers of the Turkish Archive of Herakleion (Ott. Kandiye) - a source of special importance for the history of Crete, preserved in the Turkish Archive of Herakleion - in continuation of the work of the late Nikolaos Stavrinidis. It is funded by the Municipality of Herakleion and carried out by the Vikelaia Municipal Library, under the scholarly supervision and coordination of Elizabeth Zachariadou on behalf of the Programme of Turkish Studies of the Institute of Mediterranean Studies. Until recently the project was carried out in collaboration with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest.
