Post-Doc Researcher with a PhD in Geotechnologies and Environment (or similar thematic topic)

The Laboratory of Geophysical-Satellite Remote Sensing & Archaeoenvironment (GeoSat ReSearch) of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies - Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (IMS-FORTH) announces a Post-Doc scholarship for scholars that want to participate in the implementation of the project ARISTEIA - INNOVATIVE GEOPHYSICAL APPROACHES FOR THE STUDY OF EARLY AGRICULTURAL VILLAGES OF NEOLITHIC THESSALY (IGEAN), which is implemented under the "ARISTEIA" Action of the  "OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING" and is co-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and National Resources.. The project deals with the Culture and Technology, and the particular Post-Doc will be employed for carrying out chemical analyses of soil samples from archaeological sites.

The Post-Doc will be involved in the geophysical prospection of archaeological sites, the processing of the data, the soil sampling and the chemical analysis of the samples.  Candidates need to have a strong stimulus and be able to collaborate and interact constructively within an international team with various disciplines.

The term of contract: 3 months (within the period of 2013-2015)

 

Necessary Requirements:

1. PhD in Geotechnologies and Environment (or similar thematic topic)

2. Participation in a number of research projects or previous experience in chemical analysis of soil samples and access to a Lab where these measurements will be carried out.

3. A significant publication record in peer-review international journals and or conferences.

4. Experience in chemical analyses, Waste management, water protection and soil quality remediation of contaminated leachates, Design innovative materials laboratory analyses of organic and inorganic constituents,  Usage of analytical techniques (XRD, FTIR, SEM)

5. During the three months period of the post the post-doc researcher should work full time for the needs of the project.
