Georgios Kostopoulos

Department of Linguistics Georgios Kostopoulos studied linguistics and Greek in Patras (BA), Classics in Cambridge (MPhil), and Indo-European linguistics in Vienna (MA, Dr.phil.). His doctoral studies were funded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences. In 2021–2022 he held a one-year research appointment at the Center for Hellenic Studies, Harvard University. His research focuses on the prehistory and early history of the Greek language; especially on the sound changes that took place from Proto-Indo-European to early Greek. His work has appeared in leading journals of the field, such as Die Sprache, Glotta, Münchener Studien zur Sprachwissenschaft, and Harvard Studies in Classical Philology.
