Description and aims of project

The systematic inventory of all Modern Greek poems, whether published or not, onymous or anonymous, written or published during the above-mentioned period (folk songs are excluded), together with classification both in printed form as well as data base according to author and collection, title and first verse. There is a concise description of each poem (title, first verse, number of verses, metric form) so as to facilitate recognition. Printed collections of poetry and hand-written anthologies are also described. There will also be an archive of photocopies, electronic records, etc, with certain of the more inaccessible texts.

Work on the programme began on 1st March 2005. The accumulation of data is expected to be completed in two years, whereas the data base is expected to become gradually accessible via the Internet from June 2005.
