In this book labour historians meet historians of theatre and cinema and discuss aspects of the labour history in the Greek "industry of entertainment" from the end of the 19th century to more recent years. The editors are persuaded that the issues involved in this discussion are of a broader interest, as the artists constitute the archetype of the flexible worker in the neoliberal post-fordist capitalist, their (autonomous and creative) labour being characterised by constant availability and adaptability, self-exploitation and taking risks, blurred boundaries between working and and non-working time, absence of unionism, precariousness and flexibility.
