Urban environments impose specific restrictions in the application of geophysical techniques originating mainly from the structure and the construction density of the urban centers. Still, information resulting from the different geophysical methods is welcome and valuable for the management and planning authorities. This kind of information is critical in areas exposed in different risks, such as earthquake, erosion, landslides, a.o. A wide range of different methodologies was applied in the major urban centers of the island of Crete, Greece, in order to investigate their suitability in the exploration and definition of the geological characteristics of them. The final results were published through the WEB providing a free access to the general public.
